| This site
is the realm of those that live with the reality of mental
distress. It's for those that live with voices, visions,
distressing realities, the effects of trauma, the lows and the anxiety
that life sometimes brings. It is for those people who, despite
all the world has thrown at them, somehow manage to keep
breathing. In truth, it is also for those of us who have
felt that this battle is sometimes too big. |
| MadNOTBad
stands tall, fighting against the stigma and isolation
that so many of us face. We are not alone - even if we feel it sometimes.
By collating the experiences, opinions and creative talents of those
who have experienced mental distress or 'madness', we aim to break
through the silence that all too often surrounds mental
ill health. The overriding message is:
Being 'mad' doesn't make you 'bad' and it's OK to talk
about it! |
| Whatever label you
hold (psychologist, schizophrenic, supporter, depressed, survivor,
mentalist, psychotic, visionary, nurse, guide, volunteer, bipolar,
OCD, carer, self harmer, friend, bulimic, psychiatrist, partner,
mad chick, sane, voice hearer, anxious, traumatised, social worker
.... human being) you are welcome
to browse this site and learn from the wisdom and
experiences of those who have contributed to it. |
| All we ask is that
you leave your labels at the door.
Mental distress can, and does, affect each and every one of us.
It's part of being human and living in a world that is, sometimes,
a real challenge. I hope that you, like me, are humbled by the strength,
resilience and courage of those
who have chosen to share their stories on this site. Without these
people, MadNOTBad would simply not exist.
I hope you enjoy the site x |
