Runaway
Frozen in time on the hard shards of a winters night,
Yielding to the darkness she trembles and dreams of
A long forgotten sunrise.
If she would simply unlock her heart
She might catch sight of what lies ahead
And realize she needs help.
There’s so much she doesn’t understand
About life - that she just can’t take it all in.
Innocents faded, the night he crept into her room
She’ll never forgive him,
Never go home again.
Mirror images are resentful, frozen
Into shop doorways and window displays.
She begs strangers for pennies
And pleads with God to set her free,
As she showers the world with blame.
