First Signs - An online, user-lead voluntary organisation, founded in 2002 to raise awareness about self-injury and provide information and support to people of all ages affected by self-injury

National Self Harm Network - A UK survivor-led org campaigning for the rights of people who self-harm. The website includes a large list of resources, a well used online forum & a very useful ‘self injury – treatment checklist’ that you can print out and give to a triage nurse at A&E

Self Harm: Recovery, Advice & Support - Part of 'The Site' website. Includes a massive amount of information and resources aimed at young people. Includes understanding self harm, self help and getting help

Secret Shame - A very comprehensive US Site, including a wealth of information on self help, first aid and advice for friends. Written by those with personal experience of self harm

SIARI: Self Harm & Related Issues - Contains articles on self injury, info on key books, discussion board for SI plus one for therapists/professionals, personal stories, poetry, inspirational quotes and more ...

Sirius Project - A self help site for those who self harm. Includes: staying safe, getting help and stopping self harm (written and compiled by someone who has stopped self harming themselves)

Trichotillomania Support (Compulsive Hair Pulling) - UK website offering support (inc buddying, forum, chat), information on trich, types of treatment, personal experiences, suggestions for coping and details of regional groups

Dreamchild: Living With Chronic Depersonalisation - A personal account of her experiences of depersonalisation (plus derealisation, anxiety and depression). Provides an insight into how it it feels, her own history, the treatments she has tried and some ideas for coping with the experience

Living Manic Depressive - A personal take on bipolar disorder – has lots of very useful info on his experiences of medication, treatment, diagnosis, highs & lows and learning to cope

Mad Chicks - A new movement, which focuses on issues specific to women mental health service users, using creativity to achieve our aims and attract attention to our causes. Site contains info, creativity etc.

Mad Pride - The all new website of this energetic mental health surivivors organisation. Includes details of future gigs & events, the origins of Mad Pride and their 'Stop The Suicides' campaign

National Service User Network - Aims to create a network which will engage and support the wide diversity of mental health service users and survivors across England in order to strengthen the user voice

SUN International - A service user network based in the south of England - aims to exchange info on mental health, wellbeing, welfare rights, employment and user/carer involvement

Befrienders Worldwide - Information on befriending services - includes related info (eg on bullying, self harm, statistics, how to help a friend). You can also e-mail them for support

CALMzone - Website and helpline aimed at supporting men, giving out the message that 'being silent isn't being strong'. Includes lots of info on a range of issues, including a database of sources of local support

Childline - "Here you'll find info on a whole range of issues. Sometimes you can sort out a problem on your own. But if you have a worry you can't cope with, don't bottle it up. It can really help if you talk to someone in your family, a carer, one of your friends or maybe a teacher. And you can call ChildLine on 0800 1111 at any time"

London Lesbian & Gay Switchboard -Provides an information, support and referral service for lesbians, gay men, bisexual people and anyone who needs to consider issues around their sexuality

Maytree: A Sanctuary For The Suicidal - a short stay in a safe residential setting where you can talk, reflect and rest - and restore hope. Maytree is a place where you will be heard, respected and accepted, without judgement and in confidence

Papyrus UK - A voluntary UK organisation committed to the prevention of young suicide and the promotion of mental health and emotional wellbeing. Includes Hopeline UK (a helpline providing support, information and advice)

Samaritans - For anyone stressed out/at the end of their tether or just needing to talk. Includes details of how to contact them (including by e-mail) and what to expect if you do
