Benzodiazepine Addiction, Withdrawal & Recovery - Aimed at those addicted to benzos (including diazepam). Provides information, support and resources

Choice And Medication - NIMHE funded website which offers people information about medications used in the mental health setting to help people make informed decisions about medication. Includes info on side effects and answers common questions

Coming Off Psychiatric Medication - An excellent webstie providing info about different psychiatric medications, how they function and their withdrawal effects. It is written by those with personal experience of 'coming off', as well as clinicians who have supported the process

NMHCT Pharmacy - Easy to understand Information on medication (including side effects). Also links to other related topics and a medication helpline. Has no hidden commercial bias or backing, and is managed by the Norfolk and Waveney Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust

Seroxat User Group - A group of people experiencing varying degrees of withdrawal and dependance on Seroxat (Paroxatine). Website includes support, information (including articles from newspapers, magazines, tv and other charities) and a discussion forum

Alternatives To Violence Project - AVP run workshops for people from all walks of life who want to deal with conflict well. Their website includes details of the approach, including their work in prisons

British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) - Site includes a searchable list of counsellors and therapists (including information on their specialties and cost), information on ethical issues and useful links

British Psychological Society - Includes 'Find A Psychologist', free advice leaflets and information on events

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Psychosis - A specialist out patient clinic offering CBT for clients who experience psychosis. Includes information on CBT in Psychosis, as well as information on referring to the service

Improving Access To Psychological Therapies (IAPT) - NHS website containing information about the government's IAPT programme. Contains publications and what's happening locally

Soteria: Schizophrenia Without Antipsychotic Drugs - A collection of articles about alternatives to medication, including the Soteria house. Founded by Loren Mosher

UK Council for Psychotherapy - Includes information on talking therapies, choosing a therapist and the different types (modalities) of psychotherapy

Self Help

Evolving Minds - A West Yorkshire based group aiming to provide a space to discuss, debate, share, learn value and campaign for alternative and compassionate approaches to emotional and mental health

Young People

Childline - The natioanl young people's helpline's website, containing info on a range of issues and ideas to get support

Connexions Direct - A confidential information and advice for young people (aged 13 – 19). You can call, txt, email, textphone or speak online to advisors from 8pm - 2pm daily. Site also has info on health, housing, money, careers, relationships etc

Headspace - An online self advocacy and rights for young people who are admitted to an adolescent psychiatric unit

Right Here - "We want to change the way in which the mental health of young people aged 16-25 is addressed in the UK. We aim to show how we can help young people improve their mental health and reduce the chances of them developing mental health problems"

Reach Out - Lively, well designed site. Features include factsheets on just about everything, personal stories, suggestions for getting through stressful times, chill café (inc reviews, paint it, scream it/dream it, send e cards and lots more)

Teenage Health Freak - User friendly site with lots of info about a wide range of health topics - inc physical and emotional

There 4 Me - Online source of help and support for people aged between 12 and 16. Includes online support from NSPCC counsellors

The Site - For young people - 'Your guide to the real world'. Straight talking site that includes magazine, online community and information sections. Covers a wide range of topics inluding body image, sexuality, mental health and drug use

Voice Collective - A new site for 11-18 year olds who hear, see or sense things that others don't. It includes info on voices, visions, peer support groups, coping, recovery and getting help in a crisis.

Young Minds - Contains an infocentre for young people, their parents and professionals, an online magazine and a range of leaflets. Also info on the charity itself and how you can support it

Youth 2 Youth - A site for young people by young people. Has telephone/e-mail helpline, links to other useful sites, examples of some common problems - emotional health, body image, relationships etc
