About Hospital Admissions
My name is Robie. I’ve been diagnosed with
paranoid schizophrenia.
About hospital admissions - it seems when I go
into hospital for any reason i go in by the advice of my cpn &
my family on a voluntary basis and when I speak to then before i
go in they tell me I can go and come as I please, ie go for walks
etc, but when I get there they hold me against my will and ward
base me so I cant leave even after our conversation on the phone.
I went to the ward for a couple of hours on Friday
I wasn’t even an inpatient I was just visiting and they wouldn’t
let me leave until I’d seen the psychiatrist who had to come
from Nottingham to see me. My point is its all false promises with
them they tell me one thing and mean another just to get me in hospital.
This is at the Brandon Unit general hospital.
Thanks for reading

Just a thought:
If this rings true for you then maybe it's an idea to speak to a
mental health advocacy organisation. The idea is that they know
the system, and are there to help stick up for your rights when
you need them to. To find an organisation in your area you could
contact MIND, RETHINK or SANE (see the resources
section). For my take on advocacy see Advocacy In The UK (also in
the views section). Good Luck! xxx Rachel |
